New mothers have many questions and concerns about breastfeeding in the weeks leading up to and after birth. Breastfeeding mothers groups are a wonderful way to exchange information and experiences. Going to a group is a great reason to get out of the house, to talk with other women, and to make new friends.
Tuesday is a playgroup for breastfeeding mothers with infants and/or toddlers. This offers an informal social time for mothers and provides a fun opportunity for young children to play with others. Moms, breastfed children and siblings under four are welcome!
Employed mothers gather with their children the first Tuesday of the month to discuss the concerns of working while continuing to breastfeed. Sharing helpful hints for pumping, maintaining a good milk supply, and the challenges of balancing work with home-life can make your working experience more fulfilling.
The Breastfeeding Center’s support groups are led by Elizabeth Studer, a Registered Nurse and Board Certified Lactation Consultant, whom will answer your breastfeeding questions and offer support if you are having problems with breastfeeding. A digital baby scale is available for you to measure your baby’s weekly weight gain or to determine how much milk your baby takes per breast or feeding.
